End of Summer Routines Reset

The summer is almost over, and with it comes the inevitable—a September reset. Maybe you're feeling like you've been through a lot in recent months. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed by all that has happened over the past few months or years. Or maybe it's a mix of excitement and nervousness after being on vacation. Whatever it is, we’re here to help.

The first thing that we do after summer ends is reset our routines. We think of this as a mental break from all the fun we've been having, but it really allows us time away from any stressors or pressures that may be weighing down on us during this busy season.

Here are some tips on how to reset after summer and take it day by day:

Embrace the Challenge Ahead

The summer is coming to an end, and you're likely feeling a little burnt out. It's important to remember that taking time out of your routine can be great for your mind and body; this is especially true if you're looking to reset after the busy season. It’s also important not to get too bogged down in the past or future—the present moment is what matters most!

Unplug

It’s also beneficial to take time to detox from screen time for a complete refresh of the mind. This will allow you to protect your mental health and manage your energy as you transition back into your work routine. Here are some things you can try instead:

  • Turn off your phone, turn off social media and the TV, turn off the lights and music. Take a walk in nature or write in a journal.
  • Incorporate exercise into your daily routine and get some sunlight/fresh air. This can help reset your energy levels as we head into the cooler months.

Take Time to Reflect

After a summer of hard work & lots of fun, it’s important to set aside some time to reflect on what you’ve learned, and any changes you can make to improve your happiness and productivity.

If there are things that need changing in your routine, write them down so that they don't slip through the cracks—and then make a plan for how you want to change them! Make sure that this goal is both realistic and attainable; otherwise, it won't be worth working toward. If possible, set deadlines so that when these goals are accomplished (or at least within reach), something great has happened.

Set Daily Intentions

Setting achievable daily intentions can be an effective way to ensure you stay on-track with your broader goals for the rest of the year.

  • Set a goal for each day of your week: Monday through Friday, make sure that there are at least one or two things that you want to accomplish each day. If possible, try setting up some events or appointments in advance so that when they come up—a meeting with someone new or an important presentation due by Friday morning—you'll already have something planned for them beforehand; otherwise this can become overwhelming if left up in the air without anything concrete happening first!
  • Set goals for each month: Start thinking about what needs doing over the next few months (or more) according to when they fall into place chronologically so as not to forget any details along the way (i.e. how much money might need saving up).

Welcome a New Season

The new season is a time to reflect on what you have learned and make changes. It's also a chance to start fresh and make sure everything is in order before things start to pick up.

We can use this opportunity for self-reflection by asking ourselves questions such as: "What did I accomplish?" "How did my work habits change?" or "What did I learn about myself through this experience?"

A Fresh Outlook

In preparation for a new work season, it's time to step into our own truths, recommit ourselves to our daily habits and start fresh with a fresh outlook on life. We're excited for what's ahead, but also ready to embrace whatever may come our way!
